    hey im trying to make some body splashes with this formula and having some problems

    Ethanol 5%

    propylene glycol 5%

    fragrance oil 2%

    tween 20 4%

    aloe vera extract 1%

    potassium sorbate 0,5%

    dye ( im having trouble with)

    and distilled water to 100

    my problem is the formula have this weird smell i think coming from the aloe vera and it stains from the dye so i guess i need to fix my percentages and maybe replace something ?! plz help

    Well, you kind of pointed out the possible culprits … so have you tried it without them?

    Knock them out and see how it performs.

    You might need to reduce the dye input if it stains. Not really sure about your aloe vera source.

    Plus your preservation is not great, so it might be microbial growth causing the smell.

    Ethanol at 5% might be too low for a Body Splash (you want some level of evaporation and fragrance blooming). Also, Potassium sorbate as your only preservative won’t protect much. I’d reduce the Aloe Vera to claim levels if you want to keep it (something like 0.01 %), since it increases risk of contamination and doesn’t do much actually.

    Yeah, you would need 20% ethanol if you want to use that to have a preservation effect. Your Aloe is a good source of food for microbes so contamination is the likely culprit.
