My extensive experience was gained from 1997 in the FMCG environment, being employed in various positions from Technical Manager, Process Improvement Engineer, through to Laboratory supervisor and currently as a Industrial chemist where I’m focused on the development of new products, and amending or improving products.

Although my love in development varies from a wide range of products form home care, industrial cleaning, automotive and personal care products, I’m drawn to the development of liquid emulsion-based polishing compound paste formulas as it combines sound mathematical principles with the flair to formulate and the inherent science behind obtaining a stable emulsion.

In all you can find polishing pastes used in many spheres of industry from household polishes, aviation, automotive through to maritime use for surface enhancement of yachts, catamarans etc. Each environment has a different surface composition and as such the type of applied Aluminium Oxide or Diatomaceous earth to obtain a specific outcome.

My other passion in development is shared in developing products for use with PVA (or PVOH) film as plastics are ubiquitous in our society, polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) film is a means to try to move away from plastic use (or limit the use), as you use one little packed of concentrated product to be diluted in water where the packet dissolves in the water to render a useful product and as such eradicating the additional purchase of the plastic container.

What also draws me to polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) film is that it has many restrictions pertaining to various raw materials and a sound knowledge of chemistry and a good bit of mathematical calculations are required prior to starting formulating products that is used in conjunction with polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) film.

Formulated products:

Automotive polishes and Professional compounding paste (polishing) product range for automotive, aviation & marine use, from the onset we focused on rendering high-performing compounding pastes and eliminating problematic issues derived by compounding pastes. We aimed to formulate a product that circumvents excessive dust formation and is silicone, filler, and wax-free, with an emulsion that can withstand South Africa’s weather conditions whilst rendering an excellent cut & polish result. Product formulation enhancements includes SP6 Quick cut compound paste and SP3 Compound paste, both are used in surface refurbishing to remove P1500/P2000 sanding marks, medium oxidation, and other surface blemishes. It renders a brilliant effect on marine surface finish and canopy finishes (it is a water-based abrasive compound to restore & improve the surface finish for Polyester, Vinyl Ester & Epoxy resin composite and gel coat surfaces).Other Developments: SP5 DA polish Cut ad Shine and SP2+ Extra Fast Compounding liquid, to remove P1200-P2000 sanding marks, also for use on MS and HS Paints. Dishwashing liquids, Rinse aid, Bathroom, Kitchen, Mildew, and Glass cleaners. Pine gel, waterless wash & wax / Shine, waterless glass cleaners, Laundry liquids, Metal polishes, Solar panel cleaner, Triple concentrated washing powders, Automotive detailing range of products (including ceramic range), various car shampoo types including Snow Foam shampoo, air fresheners, Disinfectant solutions (as example an equivalent to JEYES fluid) and various solvent & water based aerosolized formulations, etc.
