Microbial Contamination Testing Question
I am just wondering how this works! I will be making my own lipstick and have been advised to get this testing done. Anyone know the best, affordable place to do/send this? Anywhere in the North Carolina area? Do I just send one tube of lipstick?
Also, how do I know if the local products I buy here have had this testing done(and passed)?! Is there some sort of sticker or symbol on the label/website that would allow me to know this information?!Thanks all!! -

If you are making your own lipstick for your self, no testing is required. It’s probably not needed, either. Microbial growth requires water. If there’s no water in your lipstick, you won’t get any growth, so just a small bit of preservative will keep you safe.

But if you intend to sell your lipstick or give it to other people then you will have to do microbial contamination testing.
No, there is no obvious way to tell if a local producer has done testing. It’s just a legal requirement that they ensure their products are safe.For more information contact @The_Microbiologist . His company specializes in this type of testing. -
@Bobzchemist even with this type of formulation we usually make microbial contamination testing because still some mold could grow on surface with humidity water. At least in Brazil where it is HR 75-80% average most of the year.
