Lotion pH 2.2 why so low?
I recently made a lotion whose pH was really low …2.2, I haven’t yet adjusted the pH which I will with koh solution …as I was told that naoh would give a bad texture
The question is where did I go wrong?
It was a pretty Basic one ewax ,stearic acid,cetyl alcohol, allaintoin, cctg,oils butters, and hydrosols,veg glycerine plus distilled water
Any insights would be helpful I can.post the formula if required… -

Sorry I forgot to introduce myself …I’m a formulator but not big time I do it primarily for family and friends …I do have some background in chemistry…grad level but it’s very rusty

@Beeehappy Please post the formula with INCI names (not just ewax) because now it’s absolutely not clear how this can have such a low pH.

Without more info about relative amounts, it would be hard to give an answer. Best guess is you have too much acid, not enough base. What’s the pH of your water?
