Laundry strips (I think they’re green-washing)
Thanks for any help you can provide me in my quest to test a product I think is bogus!
I want to do a comparison wash.
I have been soaking a large piece of scrap fabric in coffee & soil. When the 1 week of soaking with daily mixing are up, I’ll dry the fabric then cut it into equal sizes for the test washes. I will use the same mass of laundry powder as the estimated mass of surfactants in the laundry strip. THIS IS WHAT I NEED HELP WITH…
This is what I’ll have for my samples:
1) CONTROL PIECE: UNwashed piece of dirty fabric
2) a piece of fabric washed in cold water
3) a piece of fabric washed in cold water and a laundry strip
4) a piece of fabric washed in cold water using laundry detergent powder (equal in mass to the actual surfactants in the laundry strip)
What do you think is the TOTAL % of surfactants in the laundry strip? Here is the list of ingredients, from their website (Tru Earth):

<div>Have you tried weighing one and wetting it out to remove the surfs, then drying & weighing it?
</div><div>The PVA coating on the dishwasher detergent pods I use doesn’t dissolve fast or completely, I cut them open & dispose of it or it clogs the drain.
I’ve been wondering if that happens in people’s laundry with those strips.

I was given 2 of the strips, so I don’t want to risk losing one by trying your suggestion, though it’s a good one. Sorry!.
The Tru Earth website shows the strip quickly dissolving when placed in a bowl of water, so it might not be a problem with anything gumming up like your dishwasher pods.
I have heard the SAME THING about pods being a problem, i.e., NOT dissolving. I was dishes by hand & use laundry powder so I can’t comment on the pods problem myself.

The brand is Full Circle Market. The detergent itself works quite well, and is unscented/no enzymes, (which make me itch), so I’m happy to use it, but do have to “peel” the pods.

Maybe tell them Elliot. I know P&G would want to know if it was a problem with Tide pods
