  • Hydrophilic or hydrophobic silica?

Posted by AleH on January 24, 2020 at 3:27 am

Hi! I have a client that wants a grease-like gel, without petroleum derivatives, translucent, and stable between 10-80°C. I thought to do it with vegetable oil (canola oil for example) and silica, but I’m not sure which one to use, a hydrophilic (Aerosil 200) or hydrophobic (Aerosil 974) as I have found mixed information. Can anyone give any advice to get a stable and translucent grease-like gel? Thanks!!
