How to reduce stickiness of Sodium Hyaluronate in toner.
HI everyone, Im formulation a hydrating toner since one year but now i feel slight sticky ness in my toner and it does not sprayed properly from pump. i think it is due to new sodium hyaluronate (from same supplier & same molecular weight).
Formula of hydrating Toner
Aqua :- QS
Glycerine :- 1
Aquaxyl :- 2
Sodium Hyaluronate :-0.5
extract :- 2
Preservative :- 2
Perfume : 0.5
Solubilizer :- 1
Please help me in this as this is a set formulation since 2-3 years.

Hi,
If I understand well, nothing else changed in your base formulation which doesn’t stick, neither raw materials nor suplliers or percentages, so you are sure, what you feel is caused by HA.
In that case: Sodium hyaluronate mol.weight < 10 kDa is less sticky, than higher mol.weights (10-50 kDa, 800-1500 kDa,…). If the CoA doesn’t tell what molecular weight yours is, you better ask the supplier. The smaller mol.weight HA usually pricier. You can change the mol. weight of HA or adjust the percentages of other components in the base for better skinfeel.

@himanshu_bhonde26 the stickiness may be mitigated by adding a glycol such as propylene or butylene glycol perhaps 1 - 2 %. As for the spray problem, that is due solely to the HYA polymer. Polymers do not like to atomize; very few do and only those having low mw chain lengths. Try a lower Dalton HYA and see what happens.

@chemicalmatt thank you for helping us and this is not due to propylene glycol as i formulate the same earlier. So I think this is only because of HA . Feel was as it is only the change is product does not sprayed out evenly and properly and slight sticky string observed.
