  • How to adjust sticky serum?

    Hi there,

I have a serum hat has been re-formulated a couple of times to fix the texture, however it’s still way too sticky for my liking. I’ve listed the ingredients in the formula below. Any ideas on what to adjust? Assuming it’s to do with sodium hyaluronate, propanediol or beta glucan.

    INCI names in decreasing order:

Water (aqua), Sodium Ascorbyl Phospate, Aqua (and) Glycerin (and) Sodium Levulinate (and) Sodium Anisate, Epilobium Angustifolium (Willowherb), Propanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Tocopheryl Phosphate, Beta Glucan, Water (and) Glycerin (and) Garcinia Mangostana Fruit (Mangosteen) Extract, Glycerin (and) Water (aqua) (and) Morus Alba Root (Mulberry) Extract, Water (and) Glycerin (and) Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Extract (and) Sodium Benzoate (and) Potassium Sorbate, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Powder (and) Scleorotium Gum, Ferulic Acid, Citric Acid, Sodium Phytate.

    Thanks so much in advance!

@stephm212 It’s a bit hard to tell since many of the ingredients are blends, so you won’t get the real order of each ingredient in the formula, but I might think the glycerin could be the issue.

I agree it might be the glycerin, I have found it becomes sticky above 3% in many formulas. Maybe try reducing by 0.5% in increments to see if it makes a difference :)
