  • How it works with the recipients?

Posted by pma on September 2, 2019 at 10:52 am

I will open a cosmetic startup and I want to import the bottles because I don’t like the ones there are in my country.

The products will be made by an OEM, but, out of curious, how they know the bottles are clean enough and free of contaminants? When a manufacturer receive the recipients do they clean them again? If so, even bottles with pump etc?

Interesting question. I don’t have an answer for you but would love to hear others perspectives.

You need to vet your contract manufacturer (CM) to know their inbound inspection procedure. Should they determine your bottles to be in a state of non-conformance, they will HOLD and notify you.  These are blow-molded at high temp, so as long as they packaged correctly and didn’t store outdoors or in a yurt on the steppes, your bottles should be fine.

The simplest thing can be a quick wash or rinse with demineralized water.

Bacteria doesn’t feed on plastic (not for nothing bottles take decades to biodegrade).
The high injection blow molding process @chemicalmatt mentioned, degrades any bacteria there.

As for contaminants you’d need to define what do you want to avoid. Some plastic manufacturing uses nasty solvents and raw materials.
But testing is expensive, you’d need to hire a chromatography lab for that.

Thank you all for the answers. Do you huys think can be safe to buy these bottles from China that are selling on Alibaba?

We refuse to deal via alibaba. Instead, we buy direct from the manufacturer. It is not difficult to find these companies. Best approach is to ask others in your country for recommendations.
