  Guidelines for Cosmetic Product Prototype Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET)

  Which organization’s guidelines do you follow for conducting Preservative Efficacy Tests (PET) - Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), US Pharmacopeia (USP) or other entity’s guidelines?

  Any suggestions, comments or discussion regarding best practices for PET and other cosmetic product prototype preservative system challenge testing methods would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

  If you’re making products in the cosmetic industry, your best bet is to follow the recommendations of the PCPC.  This is the group that is responsible for setting the rules that cosmetic companies in the US should follow.
