I have been following a certain color cosmetic/skincare/hair care brand for a while now and they claim to make clean/healthy/this and that cosmetics with fruit based pigments.

They list ingredients on their website but it obviously doesn’t follow any regulations but they do pigments in the form of “pigment of pomegranate, peach, etc.” Does anyone have any idea how they’re bypassing regulations? This is a US based business so I assumed FDA would be all over them but since it’s not the case, is there a colorant source I’m missing?

The FDA has a lot to do and few resources with which to do it. Small companies can fly under the radar for some time before they get a letter from the FDA.  That will eventually happen but I don’t know how long it will take unless someone complains directly to the FDA.
