  • Formulation service/ help needed to preserve pure herbal paste

    Hello,
            I am looking for expert advice or formulation service to help me with preservation options for a 100% herbal product. Mine is just simple 2 ingredient mixture. It contains a paste of distilled water and dry herbal powder to make it as a paste. What preservatives can I add to this mixture to provide a long shelf life?
    I request someone help me claim all natural  or to say the least Parabens free, formaldyhyde free etc .. and go with what most in the market uses to claim all natural like Burt Bee’s skincare.

    If it is two components and water, why not market it as a dry powder and let the user form the paste themselves?

    I am considering that as well, but the paste form is the preferred method.

    Simple and cheap -glycerin.

    If you use just the herbal powders and glycerin no preservative is necessary. You can go as low as 25% glycerin/water and still not need an added preservative.

    @johnb ,
               Thank you! Can I still add water to the mixture? I usually add 1 part Henna with 1 part water to soak overnight. Can I additionally add some Glycerin to keep it preserved?

    Yes, you can. I suggest initially 25/75 glycerin/water and make your paste for preservation and then dilute this mix as required just before use.

    You need to try it out first!!
