    Hi all,

I like to hear about your opinion/ experience with vegetable glycerin.

I love the product and experimenting right now with it.
I was a little confused because one website told me it is only water-soluble and another one said it is oil and water-soluble. Me being me it is just put it to the test.
The first experiment with shea butter/rosehip oil/ camellia tea oil works beautifully.
The second experiment substitute the shea with aloe vera butter and keep the rest the same during working noticed the aloe vera butter is much softer so I expected a milky outcome and I was right even after a few days it was not settled.

I don’t mind so much because it works very nice as a milk  cleanser

I will give it another try and see if I can get it more solid because vegetable glycerin should work as an emulsifier.

Reading more online I was not the only one who was confused by this product.

Love to hear from you all

Cleanser removes everything from surface of your skin and makes it clean.
Aloe Vera butter and and glycerin will not work as cleanser.

Emulsifier makes oil and water combin.
Glycerin will not make oil and water combin.

    These are your imaginations????

    @Charlene:

I would suggest that perhaps you change your source of reading materials since it appears you are getting some incorrect information.

    Glycerin is not an emulsifier.

    Glycerin is water-soluble.

Vegetable glycerin can help gently cleanse while not stripping the skin (or hair) of moisture. It makes a great addition to body cleansers of all types.

My imagination goes far and sometimes fools me but my eyes don’t lie the product is nice, light, and looks stable even if I put it with warm hands on the skin

Thank you, as I mention it this product confuses me because I use butter and carrier oils with glycerin and it dissolves beautifully.
Could this be because I do cold produce?

I would wager that if you did stability in a formal manner, you would see the glycerin separate out over time.

As said above….stay off the mommy blogger sites…as that will all have to be unlearned if you hope to progress in this area.
Secondly…Aloe does not make a butter…that is some man made product….more than likely a lot of soybean margarine….and WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE, as it is a completely fabricated item.
As you did not mention water…your concoction is not an emulsion.
(Delete from your favorites…the site that said glycerin was oil soluble…thank me later.)

I thank you…I had to laugh but this time I didn’t had the info from a “mommy blogger site”.
I agree with you and I stay away from websites that talk about cosmetics in the way of 1 teaspoon of this and 2 tablespoons of that and at last a few drops of the miracle.
I understand that making cosmetics goes a little bit further than the “great Britisch Bake off”
I also understand that aloe vera doesnt make a butter My fault that I didnt tell you that it is a blend with coconut oil and soya oil.

Anyway thanks for the respond and give a smile on my face I love to read everything to improve

On that aloe butter….there is a small chance that they included some water and an emulsifier to put the aloe into solution (water), and emulsified it to create the perception of a butter….Just depends how they made it (often hydrogenated…hence I usually refer to them as margarine :) ).
That could be an area of concern (preservation)….
I like to stay away from the fake butters….even though I may use the ingredients they used…at least I know what is going into my products….and can control the quality. (I have yet to find a value in fake butters.)

I don’t like fake butters either. Almost always they use hydrogenated soy or vegetable oil, occasionally you’ll get lucky and find one with Shea Butter with a bit of carrier oil added (for example, Cranberry Butter, Avocado Butter, Hemp Butter etc) but the overwhelming majority of them contain hydrogenated oil. It does not look good on an ingredients list.

    I’m getting a Lush-vibe.
Not ideally good for Acne-prone skin.
You may try, incorporate vegan-emulsifier in your balm for easier wipe off with damp clothes.

    actually not really.

If what you are going for is something similar to ultraplant, you may want to try to research for customer reviews outside of their communities more.
It’s sure work well with dissolving makeup but it can’t be rinse off with water, you have to wipe your face sooooo hard with damp clothes to get it off.
If you want to ref. a product, I would recommend goop, they have their own cult like Lush but their products ‘re better formulated and work better than Lush’s.
