Our trusty filling machine has been dispensing shampoo, body wash, face wash, face oils etc. We have recently branched into hair conditioner, and put a 7 test Kg batch through the machine. Dispensed like a champion. However, the filling machine cleaning was a challenge. Very difficult to clean.

Any tips on what to use for cleaning after dispensing hair conditioner?  Our usual Alconox solution didn”t do a great job, but we got the machine clean eventually.

that’d be because Alconox is anionic; a dilute solution of CTAC in hot water will do a better job

Anionics will complex with cationics and leave a residue:cationics like CTAC are poor cleaners due to hydrophobic interaction.Use a hydro alcoholic solution of a nonionic like NP 9.

As an aside, that residue trick (combining a cationic with an anionic) was the bases for how VO5 Hot Oil treatment works. You put the cationic material on your hair first, then use an anionic shampoo to wash it out.  Viola, instant conditioning. At least that was the theory.
