Hi there, anyone formulated with these emulsifiers? (inci glyceryl stearate, cetearyl alcohol, sodium stearoyl lactylate). I’m specifically after Ecomulse, which has a blend that works between pH 5-7.5. Since its a small window, wondering what your experiences have been formulating with it and what instability issues you’ve come across. Thanks all

@formulatorterminator Yes, I’ve worked with RITA emulsifier blends including this one. It works quite well and is already built with fatty alcohol & GMS flaked. It is anionic so is compatible with carbomers, polysaccharide gums, but not so much with cationics and some amino acids. That pH range is only a guideline, you can take it higher to pH9 if needed.

I work with this emulsifier and I really like it. Have not had any stability issues, used in a cream facial cleanser and body lotion.

Late to the party…does anyone know of compatibility issues with electrolytes (aloe, sodium hyaluronate)? This emulsifier is my “go-to” and I’m considering using it in a night time face cream featuring HA. Any help is truly appreciated!😄

Should not be an issue. The ’emulsifiers’ that tend to have issues with moderate electrolytes….are your polymerics……you know… Zen, many carbomers, and Aristoflex AVC.

Aloe is typically only used at trace amounts for claim….as it doesn’t do that much…and is awesome bug food.

Assuming you are adding your HA, post emulsification.

      Good Luck.

Thanks! Yes I’m still using the green goblin, it’s being keyed up with glycerin for the humectant property and I can afford both of those right now, and the HA is being added post emulsification. I created a 1% solution prior. I’ve seen formulas where it’s added before heating the water phase and it just didn’t sit right with me 🤷🏾‍♀️. Thanks again!

Just for bonus points…. You can do something very similar….with just using SSG (Sodium stearoyl glutamate) as a co-emulsifier for any non-ionic primary emulsifier.

Since I really like to root around in the lower pH’s…. it is the darling of the anionics….as pH drops!

My go to anionic supporting leg.

            Cool! I’ll give that one a try!😁
