OK what would Polytrap 6500 be like in a shampoo I wonder? (Dimethicone petrolatum)

They work, and they also kill the foam. I wouldn’t put much faith on it for shampoos.

@Belassi  Polytrap 6500-Dimethicone petrolatum-I am not familiar with this material.  Could you use this in a intimate skin application?  I have a customer that wants a petrolatum style thick product.

@Chemist5000 : I would say so. We’ve been selling a hand cream using this for about 4 years now, it is very nice. Gives a silky effect. It comes as a white powder, incorporate in the oil phase. My original design was too thick, in fact.

This study says that 10,000 to 280,000 polydimethylsiloxanes (cyclomethicones) work better.

I wonder how that molecular weight “translate” to dimethicone viscosity.

    The study also says that:
    - Silicone deposition is dependant on concentration.
    - Cetrimonium aids deposition
