    Is it possible to kill bacteria and virus with a sanitizer spray with 20% alcohol, a bit decyl glucoside and aloe vera powder in destilled water?

    It is a well known brand that sell these sprays! It could be dangerous if we are sure the spray works, but it does`nt! Is there any documented reason for why the spray will not kill bacteria and virus? Here is the brand/spray: https://www.mariaakerberg.no/display.aspx?menuid=56&prodid=3145

    Does not comply with WHO or CDC or any other guidelines. The company should be prosecuted for this.

    It is a well-known fact that 20% ethanol alone does only stop bacteria and fungi from growing but it does by no means kill them and it doesn’t really hurt viruses either. Soap on the other hand may inactivate viruses (octyl glucoside is known to disintegrate bacterial cell membranes). There is a small chance that mixing the right detergent with ethanol turns it virucidal at least against certain types of viruses. As an educated guess based on the scarce knowledge regarding soap and (corona) viruses I doubt that your cocktail will do the trick. Only proper testing will tell.

    @Pharma - the other thing that soap does is get the little buggers off your hands. Those hand sanitizer gels and sprays just leave microbial debris on your skin. And if they only kill 99%, there’s still 1% that can infect you. It doesn’t take much to become infected.
