Cleaning detergent solution
Posted by DoreenSarvan on January 10, 2024 at 7:40 amHi,
We would like to make hand soup but not sure the mixing ratio. Does anyone know or mind sharing?
We have purchased:-
Clycerine
Potassium netroxide
NP9 - polyxxx - to make the hand soap form
Coconut oil
Colour/dye
Distilled Water
Does anyone have tried the cleaning solution such as floor cleaner, toilet cleaner, glass cleaner.

@DoreenSarvan that will turn out to be one mean hand soap (not “soup” right?) with those ingredients. Must have some very dirty hands there. Nonylphenol ethoxylates such as NP9 are no longer tolerated here in the USA but you will be able to clean many things with this stuff. I take it potassium “netroxide” is actually potassium hydroxide (KOH)? If so, solid state or the standard 38% solution? If it is the solid use approximately 1 part KOH (pre-dissolved and heated to 80 - 90C) to 3.25 parts coconut oil being sure to end up on the alkaline side like pH9.0. After that step is complete add the N9 then the others while cooling. Glycerine does nothing for this formula so feed that to the pigeons where you live. You will still need a preservative so I’d suggest getting some DMDMH & methylparaben or good ‘ol methylisothiazolinone. Peace.

I’m assuming here that the Potassium netroxide is Potassium Hydroxide (KOH)?
There is no need for the Clycerine. I would suggest that you simply saponify the coconut oil with KOH and water. Our factories in Viet Nam and Malaysia have produced this cleaner. It works well.

</div>We had few testing and it became very thick and layers were not diluted. So the ratio calculation was not correct.
Any advice on how the ratio of mixing should be for 1000L IBC tank?
And the below is required for hand soap ?
potassium hydroxide - ratio
coconut oil - ratio
N9 - ratio
Glycerine - seems like this is not required.
Preservative - DMDMH Hydantoin/ methylparaben/ methylisothiazolinone - ratio
We had a chemist who screwed up and we paid him and now not picking up his calls and didn’t turn up after 2 testing
Our manufacturing stopped halfway.
Mind sharing some light here?

Hi Doreen,
Yes, I can help you. We were manufacturing in Malaysia (Penang). Please email me: mikethair@gmail.com

What is your country - regulatory climate? Methylisothiazolinone effectively banned in EU.

If N9 is nonylphenol ethoxylate, then that material is banned. I don’t know of any country that still allows it, but there might be, but it can be easily replaced by different aliphatic ethoxylated fatty alcohols.
