    Dear fellow Chemists,

I am encountering a strange phenomenon (to me at least) where it appears that my cetyl alcohol is recrystallizing over time, could you please offer your advice on how I might remedy this? Oil phase below. Recrystallization appears as small circles of white that form semi-solid pieces over a time span of a month. It is of note that the oil phase is added directly to the water phase, one at a time at 80C.

    4% Cetyl Alcohol
    1.5% Peg-100 Stearate/Glyceryl Stearate
    1% Cap/Cap
    0.5% Dimethicone

Thank you for any help you provide and I look forward to your feedback!

Can you substitute Cetearyl for Cetyl?

I could give it a try. I can imagine how the stearyl alcohol’s presence would inhibit a crystallization matrix. Thanks for the suggestion @Bobzchemist!
