  Can esters replace stearic acid or fatty alcohols to thicken skin creams?

  So esters can both thicken it up while providing a better skin feel, without looking white on skin like fatty alcohols do?

  I don’t think they can replace them.  Esters are generally not slightly “surfactanty-ish” like Alcohols  (-OH) and Acids (-COOH)
