  • C12-C13 Alkyl Lactate … always a chemical scent?

Playing with a new ingredient….and applied C12-C13 Alkyl Lactate neat to my skin. Noticed it had a chemically scent…not overwhelming…but certainly couldn’t overlook it. In fact….24 hours later, the chemical scent was still recognizable on that tested area of skin (underarm).

I got this sample from the Thai place, so I do not know the source (mfg) company. But my question is…will all suppliers of C12-C13 Alkyl Lactate likely have this chemical smell….or did I just end up with a sample from the one company…that has odor?

I tossed it into a scented formula….and don’t believe it is detectable…but used a stronger fragrance type…and am wondering…if it would bleed through….with more subtle fragrances.

I got this from an Italian place a few weeks ago. There’s no scent right out the bottle. I am using it in a fragrance-free cream, in combination with other esters and d350. Nothing stands out in the final product.
