  • Benzalkonium Chloride as a Hand Sanitiser?

Hi guys, can I ask what your thoughts are on Benzalkonium Chloride as the active ingredient in a Hand Sanitiser?  Looking for alternatives for alcohol as there is none available in my country.

    Thanks, Gaby

For prevention of corona virus it is not recommended in a hand sanitiser.
I think you will find that benzalkonium chloride is also in very short supply.

Benzalkonium by itself does not have a broad spectrum of activity suitable as a sanitiser and hence formulas being used or supplied by material suppliers all have other quats (ie DDAC) or formaldehyde releasers such as DMDM hydantoin added to them. As I understand it, micro efficacy has to be proven on a formula as well before sale in Au.
