    This jug was amodimethicone has already been opened but this time, I was hit with a strong odor of ammonia like hair developer. Anyone else experienced this before ?

    You had this stored in a warm place for a significant time perhaps? This compound will readily hydrolyze releasing the amine functional group rendering the amino (“ammonia”) odor you experience. Remember that amodimethicone is a reactive compound when formulating with it.

      Yes, that is exactly what happened. I store it indoors where it frequently reaches 80+ degrees F in the area. I’ll keep this refrigerated for now on.
