  CAPB VS LAURYL BETAINE

  Hi everyone, i need some help in body wash formulation. previously we are using CAPB as one of our surfactant, then we replace CAPB with lauryl betaine because some issue with very sensitive skin. but, the problem is we can’t get the same viscosity as when using CAPB. Any suggestion to increase viscosity?

  Have you tested the salt curve?

  CAPB gives its disctintive viscosity response with anionics, due both to its ionic state, and its amido moiety. As @Abdullah mentioned, check the salt curve, you might need more.

  I found curious what you mentioned about CAPB. Did you patch test the ingredient? The problem with CAPB is not the molecule itself, but the content of some “impurities” (mostly amidoamines). Suppliers already sell versions with very low amidoamines, and you can check that info in their technical sheets.

  I have used Lauryl Betaine and it does have a salt curve .

    have you try using same formulation using CAPB and one more replace with lauryl betaine? I had tried several time, the result still shown that using CAPB the viscosity higher compared to lauryl betaine.

  Yes viscosity is higher for CAPB at same %
