Thickening oil based products
I’m thrilled to be hooked into this forum as a novice creator and would greatly appreciate any advice on how to thicken an oil based application. I’m sure this topic has been covered but I’m new to the site.
Have done so much work already to formulate these medicinal oils but the application is clumsy. I’d prefer the consistency of a serum but most additives are water based.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. -

This topic has been covered, here are some posts about it with all kinds of suggestions. What you use will depend on polarity of your oils, what you have available, if you want to heat or not etc

If a serum-like consistency is your goal, I’d use hydrated silica. You’ll need high-sheer equipment, but you can tailor the viscosity outcome. Hydrogenated Castor Oil works OK too for low-viscosity oil thickening, depending on what else is in there.
