  • Sodium Benzoate in skin care formulas. Is it save?

    Dear colleagues,
While studying substitution of parabens, I came across some skincare moisturizers in the market which contain Sodium Benzoate as a co-preservative. This is E211. Studying possible reaction with ascorbic acid it can generate benzene which is cancerogenic. Is this possible? If yes, why Sodium Benzoate is allowed in EU?
