Greetings.

I just bought Genapol La030 very cheap from clariant, the supplier told me that it can be used as thickener and emulsifier, but I’m making some test and I can’t figure out how it works.

First I wanted to used as solubilicer of oil Fragance, used from 0.5% to 8% and didn’t work

Second I used as thickener in a dishwashibg product but it doesn’t responds to salt at all.

Third and Last I used as thickener in a shampoo formula with sls and betaine but I got the same viscosity.

Plus all of this it puts white color to everything.

My question is : has anyone tried this product, if so, can anyone tell me what is it use and what can I do with it.

The only use that I’m thinking right now is a co-pearlecent effect to my current shampoo formula.

You would use it as an emulsifier with another co-emulsifier generally. It has an HLB of 8. I have used this and another Laureth emulsifier in combination.

Thanks Microformulation, well im going to make some test as remplacement of Tween80 for emulsion with Glycol stearate, its a shame because i wanted to used it as solubilizer or Thickener.

Btw do you know how to thicken it?.

It isn’t a thickener per se. I don’t know how to make it a thickener as such.

A long time ago I have used it as a thickener in a shampoo - it works but depends of course on the rest of the formulation

Thanks David, can you tell me how did you do to thicken your shampoo with laureth 3, it seems that it has no response to Salt.

Im making test ussing it into a Oil in water emulsions.

This Clariant brochure calls out the LA 30 as part of an associative thickener system. That makes sense to me - it won’t work as a thickener by itself.

If anyone else wants to set up a WordPress site, it’s extremely easy, only requires any kind of valid email address, and it lets you share most documents and photos.
