Today, I was given a product that I didn’t know existed. It’s a product called New Skin liquid bandage and the premise of the product is that it can repair damaged skin.

Now, I’m familiar with the brand Nu Skin but the product i was given is more like nail polish in that it is a solvent based product that forms a permanent film on the skin when it dries.

An interesting product that I will have to explore more.

I remember thinking of a product just like this to help stop people from biting their nails. I wonder how this works. I’ll have to investigate.

Anyone know more about the product?

Maybe I’m remembering a different product, but I thought this was based on a suspension of colloidian (spelling?), a film former that was responsible for the bandage effect.

    Active Ingredient: Benzethonium Chloride 0.2%
    Inactive Ingredients
amyl acetate, benzalkonium chloride, castor oil, clove bud oil, ethyl alcohol, n-Butyl acetate, nitrocellulose

The product is a 1st aid antiseptic drug. It forms a film on the skin like Nu Skin, but the benzethonium chloride (and benzalkonium chloride) will kill bacteria and help to keep the wound free of disease. Essentially it is an antibacterial film.

I don’t see any evidence that it can repair damaged skin though. It simply covers a wound and allows it to heal free of bacterial contamination.

Yeah, that’s it. An interesting product though.
