@ laskedbetter: Thanks for the link I will certainly read it

@MarkBroussard : My final pH is between 6-6.4. But surely I can lower it a little bit to be ine the range of 5.5-6… Benzyl alcohol/ethylhexylglycerin mix sounds interresting to me. In which ratio these products should be present and at which concentration in the finish product?

    Thanks for your answer.

Does a pH of 4.5 for a liquid hand soap is not too low? Do you think sodium benzoate will work well also in the 5-5.5 pH range?

    Thanks for your answers.

Like Belassi said it, we try to do a thing with wallnut shell powder (abrasive) mixed with carbomer, surfactants and some moisturizer. I know there is a much formulations with limonene in it, but is there any risk of sensitizing because this product (or degradation products) are recognized like “sensitizer” I think? Is there any other solvent, preferably “environmentally friendly” that we can use?

    Hi!

I don’t know if it’s a preoccupation for you, but Xiameter AFE-0010 Antifoam Emulsion is a food grade product. You can also ask for a sample free :) and use it. It won’t take a lot of this product to have an effect so you can do a lot of tests before buying it!

Thanks everyone. I think it’s unanimous that’s using lactic acid in a hand soap isn’t a good idea. I was already aware of biological activity of essential oil of thymus. Maybe I will consider using this extract instead lactic acid….

Hi, my name is Sylvain from Canada. I finished my master in chemistry  two years ago and I’m now in an enterprise who manufactures cleaning products for industrial and institutional applications. I work in the R&D department. We make new formulations and we also try to improve our existing ones.

I’m interested in green formulations. We try to do our new products in line with the UL Ecologo certification. I am very happy to have find this forum and I hope I can help you despite my limited experience in the field.
