@MarkBroussard OK thanks, that makes sense. I had to be sure. My brand is vegan and I have been having an existential crisis over whether something of human origin makes us no longer vegan, ha ha!

But why do they call it ‘Fragment of Human Type I Collagen’ if it’s from a plant?

Not everyone has the opportunity to undertake a chemistry degree at university. I am self-taught. I had no intention ever of becoming a formulator. However, I was messed about so much by formulators here in Australia. I lost thousands of dollars, not to mention valuable time. In the end, I had no choice but to make the products myself.
I couldn’t have done what I’ve done without the help and advice from the kind people on this forum. Now I try to post where I can to help others.

- Coco-Caprylate/Caprate- Glycerin- Dodecane- Isostearic acid- Ethylhexylglycerin.Finding a formulator who can develop a POF sunscreen is like the holy grail.

Is the chelating agent another ingredient, or was that the Vitamin E?
Could you please recommend a more suitable Preservative?
Also, is there another form of Vitamin E that is easier to use? Thanks so much!

Xantham Gum = Siligel 2%.
Does it need an Emulsifier?
Also, would a pH of 7-9 be OK for the Preservative, Geodard 221?Thanks.

MemberSeptember 28, 2021 at 3:17 am in reply to: What preservatives do you use most often?@Abdullah I was using it at 1% . Both myself and a colleague reacted quite severely to the Sodium Benzoate. Our skin literally went red. Neither of us had experienced an allergic reaction to anything before.
I asked around and loads of people said the same thing: they were allergic to Sodium Benzoate. So no data as such, just anecdotal.

I stopped using it a couple of years ago for this reason. I know use Dehydroacetic Acid & Benzyl Alcohol.
