Professional Chemist / FormulatorNovember 3, 2024 at 4:57 am in reply to: Increase the thickness for an eye contour creamHi, if you are not limited by the budget and don’t have HA in the formula already, i think HMW HA is the best choice. If you don’t want to raise the cost, Xanthan Gum. you don’t consider polymers? Sepimax Zen? it depends on your formula though

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 29, 2024 at 2:29 pm in reply to: HELP FORMULA_SHAMPOO BAR MUSHY TEXTURE/DOESN'T GET HARDwhat about aging? most bar cleansers need to air dry to harden properly. I am not a DIYer but I’ve seen people making this and they always let it “age”, it’s like when you make biscuits dough if you leave it outside it just loses its water and harden. It might take one week. (you still got approx. 2% water that needs to evaporate)

why don’t you incorporate some fatty alcohol to give more body to the bar? beware of the “gooey” feel when left in shower

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 29, 2024 at 7:03 am in reply to: Free Aluminum cream deoHi, i have more of an opinion than a “solution”. People choose the cream/stick version of deo to avoid irritation from alcohol in sprays, and you want to make an alkaline potentially irritant cream deo :/ why? plus, lot of people don’t mind using deo cream with “powdery” finish, it makes them feel dry. i personally used to adore “Rexona” cream deo twist and apply it leaves white powder (silica) that feels good throughout the day and smells incredibly clean (and ruins dark shirts ;( )

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 28, 2024 at 7:40 am in reply to: Viscosity problem in emulsionhave you solved it? i was suspecting the speed in case everything else remains the same. I know that you can break your emulsion if you upscale from lab to factory when you increase speed and don’t adjust the emulsifier’s concentration (higher speed= smaller intern phase droplets= bigger Surface T.= more emulsifier) maybe you need a thickener for you ext. phase… Keep us updated

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 22, 2024 at 6:21 am in reply to: Serum won’t clear upFrom what i understand your client provided you with the product formula and asked for the same results, did they provide the %? did they impose the same RM supplier? i mean, with 100% of the same data as the previous manufacturer you SHOULD get the same final result. otherwise, something is clearly missing (inexact formula +++) keep us updated

Maybe you are using too much of the Belsil. Have you read the Datasheet?
*Recommended use levels of BELSIL® DADM 3240 E in shampoo formulations: 0,8 % to 2,5 %
*The emulsion should be formulated at temperatures below 35 °C
*BELSIL® DADM 3240 E needs to be stirred well before use.
Per my philosophy, you want Belsil, you do Belsil, you can find a way 😀

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 22, 2024 at 5:49 am in reply to: Is this shampoo formula real?As far as I know the Shikakai Plant can foam and has been used since ever as a natural shampoo in India and neighboring countries. Now i don’t know about the regulations for these products there, are they obliged to list the full ingredients list? if yes then there you have it, the little foam coming from the cleanser is from the Shikakai.

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 15, 2025 at 3:32 am in reply to: detergent’s smell in my shower gel !!Hi, thanks for your reply!
Well, we purchased the FO like any other manufacturer, we started experimenting with the hand wash, it turned out great! then they got FO for Shower gel production too based on that. I didn’t sus my Polyquat7 because it has no odor to it though. Lamesoft smells on it’s own. the final product (shower gel) smells like raw SLES, although it’s the same SLES i use in the hand wash ..

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 13, 2025 at 7:12 am in reply to: detergent’s smell in my shower gel !!hi, thank you for your reply. Yes, you are getting closer to the answer i think, because i suspect the Lamesoft (the Glyceryl Oleate part) and i tried to do that screening and proceed by elimination, but it wasn’t able to determine the difference between them .. my nose is saturated ( i make reed diffusers and body splash at the same time xD)

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 13, 2025 at 6:12 am in reply to: detergent’s smell in my shower gel !!Hi, thank you for your reply. The issue is not in the FO since it perfectly works for the other product, i was wondering if the 3 ingredients or the salt may have impacted the final smell, are they known for this or not. PS: i use a ready F. oils given to me so i can’t change them. thanks again !!!

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 29, 2024 at 3:49 am in reply to: Viscosity problem in emulsionSo the emulsion didn’t break, you just ended up with different texture? as the previous comment stated, maybe it’s the cooling down. (When working with emulsions, i prefer not to skip intermediate upscaling because you always end up with different results in factory comparing to lab due to the complexe emulsion’s structure, lot of parameters to consider)

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 24, 2024 at 8:20 am in reply to: Limonene, Linalool, Hydroxycitronellal and othersbelieve me i am a big fan of internet, but i couldn’t find a satisfying answer 🙁 that’s why i started the post with “weird question” because i can’t seem to find an answer! where i am based, we don’t have to mention these on the label as Allergens, but we must list every single “ingredient” we put in the product, other than that we follow EU regulation. for the scented products I’ve made in the past, i just add Frangrance oils (provided by the client) and mention “fragrance” on the label, some manufacturers do the same, but some put linalool and such so i wonder, did they put it just to be more “EU compliant” or it’s a raw material in its own right.
Hope you could grasp the dilemma 😓
