I run a couple of experiments after our conversation above and managed to make something that works ok, but it’s not as good as banila unfortunately.

    INCI %
    Alkyl Benzoate 30.00%
    Butylene glycol D/D (ester) 15.00%
    Mineral Oil 15.00%
    Polysorbate 80 5.00%
    Cithrol GTIS 10 10.00%
    PEG-6 caprylic/capryc glycerides  10.00%
    Polyethylene 15.00%

PEG-6 is also sold on glamourcosmetics. This is useful material for making micellar water and face washes. It’a a non-ionic emulsifier.

@ngarayeva001 just curious why Butylene glycol is added? does it serve a specific function in this product, probably making it into a waterless emulsion… but why?

Thank you @ngarayeva001. You have suggested alkyl benzoate in a different post as well and i’ve bought it. Just didnt have time to test it yet. Will do soon!

“Polysorbate 80, PEG-20 glyceryl triisostearate and C12-15 Alkyl benzoate (as simple as just three ingredients)”
@ngarayeva001 i found out from experience that using plant oil (about 92% sunflower oil 8% polysorbate 80) cleansing oil makes it less irritating for my eyes and less of cloudy eye feeling after removing eye makeup.

How about your 3-ingredient cleansing oil? Does it make the eyes cloudy?

i didnt find anything funny in anyone’s comments here.. I was in fact shocked to know how long isotretinoin stays in the body because when i was prescribed with it, my derm only asked me two things. “are you pregnant? are you breastfeeding?” at that point i was not.. and now i think my consultation was too brief. it was too easy for me to get my hands on these prescriptions. i think my derm should have also asked “any plans to get pregnant in the near future?”….

@Cst4Ms4Tmps4 i dont coincidentally have good genes. In fact, i dont have good skin at all. I’ve been using prescription tretinoin for almost two years at least 3 times a week if not every night. I’ve had my own share of bad skin experience and tretinoin is the only thing that works for me and i am not ready to stop using it. I used to take accutane a couple of years back for a few months before i started tretinoin, and i want to have kids soon, hence my question about isotretinoin in the system for 5 years…..

And @Pharma , what do you mean exactly by “The effect on skin might be like ‘live short and intensely’ because of accelerated cell renewal = look like 20 for the first 40 years and for the rest more like 200.” ?

Yea, brightening complex, that’s what my shrink diagnosed! Told me that I’m having a brightening complex cause I’m under the illusion of being brighter than everyone else  .
Tretinoin is a prescription drug here around. It sure does a great job but, at least the oral form, has a very long lasting effect causing embryonic developmental disorders which require up to 5 years post treatment to fall down to a normal level ;( ! That’s especially brutal since most patients taking it are teeny girls which, for a fair part, are likely getting pregnant in a few years.
The effect on skin might be like ‘live short and intensely’ because of accelerated cell renewal = look like 20 for the first 40 years and for the rest more like 200.

This is totally brutal. Is there a paper that says this, if you can share about the oral form tretinoin that stays in human body for up to 5 years? Thats crazy, coz just like you said teenage girls are desperate to get acne free skin. Thank you!

@ngarayeva001 i was just thinking, can we make a 2-phase cleansing oil : about 50% the top part will be a mix of plant oils and 50% the bottom part will be a mix of tween80+ alkyl benzoate/ isopropyl myristate / MCT oil … it’ll definitely be a product where you have to shake before use, but 2-phase products are pretty cool… do you think this is achievable?

Thank you for all of your replies @EVchem and @ngarayeva001 .

I have just received a reply from lotioncrafter regarding my question above. Here’s their answer:

“While we know cholesterol is typically derived from animals, the ingredient cholesterol used in Ceramide Complex, it is not bio-synthesized, but is semi-synthetic and plant derived (Phytosterols).”

Speaking of cleansing oils, there’s a product that i’ve been wanting to copy for a while but simply couldnt find the right available ingredients: Belif: Cleansing Gel Oil Enriched… It’s a cleansing oil that has a little bit of body to it but still looks transparent.. i came across sucragel on the internet but it doesnt ship to my country and it’s VERY expensive. anyone can suggest an oil thickener that could work? thanks!

A lot of my DIY projects are oil cleansing related for example i make cleansing balms and liquid cleansing oil using mostly sunflower oil with polysorbate 80 as the emulsifier.
For liquid cleansing oil, the oil and polysorbate 80 always separate after a while (polysorbate 80 will sink to the bottom of the bottle and i will need to shake before use). Now i know why… thank you..

Btw, what if i still wanna keep using polysorbate80 and plant oil (sunflower oil) but dont wanna see polysorbate 80 at the bottom? What should i add? I like polysorbate 80 because it’s so easy to find in my country, price is cheap, and yes, i agree with you @ngarayeva001 when you mentioned polysorbate 80 is gentle on eyes to remove waterproof mascara. Love it!

    Thanks for the approval.

Hi! I’m Raiyana and i make skincare products at home as a hobby. I make them for my daughters, family members and close friends.
I’m more interested to do products that are suitable for babies and kids with skin condition (eczema)

    Thank you for the reply.

I made these this morning, decided to eliminate decyl

    glucoside and added Lauryl Hydroxysultaine.

It gives nice low lather. I’m okay with the product.

But I’m not sure from professional chemists POV.
