Hi @Sasse - 4 months later, I’m finding myself in the same boat as you and looking at purchasing either phenylpropanol EHG or Euxyl K900 for my deodorant formulation. Did you end up trying either, and what did you find?

Thanks in advance for any input!

@chemicalmatt - That’s an interesting idea. I know zinc citrate’s in some reputable, new, “natural” deodorants out there. I might have to experiment with it a bit, but could be a great alternative. Thanks for your message!

@ozgirl - Thank you for your comment! It’s really helping to steer me in the right direction :)

After researching a little further today- do you know of any resources that can help me determine/calculate the best overall HLB for my mixture (and thereby calculate the respective ratios to include of each emulsifier?) Or should I determine this more experimentally (i.e. just generally aim for a higher HLB of the mixed emulsifiers because I’m creating an o/w mixture?)

Again, I appreciate yours or anyone else’s insights!

    Hi everyone!

My name is Ash. I recently started formulating natural deodorant as a side hobby and discovered this forum when researching some of the hiccups I was running into. My chemistry knowledge is limited (I took an organic chemistry course or two towards my bachelor’s degree years ago), but very much enjoy this learning curve.

My goal is to formulate a natural-as-possible deodorant that is healthy, shelf stable, and works as a powerful deodorizer (plus some more specific requirements which I’ll discuss separately.) Down the line, I’d love to have it tested with a professional formulator and eventually sell it. Very much looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you in this forum!

    P.S. I’m based out of NYC/LA!
