But I haven’t run into any situation or conditions where this could be used as a suspending agent.

As far as the other part goes, I would treat the entire thing as an emulsion. In other words, don’t add the cream, add the water soluble parts; mix the oil parts separately, then add all of them together. Try this and let me know what happens!

Per 21 CFR 701.3 a,d,f2,f3 “The compounds of the proprietary antioxidant mixture dissolved in propylene glycol must be integrated into the product formulation and declared individually in order of decreasing predominance without the term “(and).””

@Perry or @Belassi you two seem to have enviable experience in cosmetic chem… do you have any tips for this? I am more concerned with rapid crystallization at colder temps than the acrylates copolymer. I understand that the alcohol will increase the CMC, but it seems to NOT assist with reduction in crystallization at all. I may be approaching this incorrectly. I am able to get some reduction in crystallization at lower concentrations, but this has a poor effect on viscosity. This is why I was leaning toward acrylates copolymer. I can’t seem to get it to work with me, though!

Thank you for your quick response! I was having discussions with my coworkers, and we realized that with two differing opinions, we needed clarity!

I want to add that this is cold processed and the order of addition is reflected as above

First of all, I want to say that I love the community support here! Also, I would suggest adding a chelator along with everything else that was suggested previously ^ Let us know how it turns out!

I would do some research into how pH can affect the anionic charge at the headgroup, since micelle packing relies on this, and greater packing allows for changes in shape to form a gel.
