Thank you for the advice! In the second formula, I did a version with ~25% water and noticed the batch didn’t go clear when heated (most of my other batches are clear at 82 C, indicating to me that the sodium stearate is properly dissolved). This mixture also began solidifying at ~78 C whereas the pour temp for my other batches hovers around 70 C. Did I reduce the water TOO much you think?

You might have luck with hydrogenated polyisobutene as well.

That’s understandable. Maybe try lanolin alcohol then? It may not be as sticky but doesn’t have nearly the odor that the normal lanolin does.
I’ve made a boat load of sticky hair pomades but they usually contain water and a polymer to contribute to the stickiness.

Why not increase the lanolin and take away the difference from the petroleum?  Lanolin has incomparable stickiness

L’Oreal has internship programs, as well as P&G and L Brands. My advice is to contact literally every company you can find, supplier or manufacturer until you find something. Amway also has an internship program for the summer.
Generally, interns are more likely to get hired into entry level positions than people who didn’t intern at that company so while it isn’t a guarantee it’s a great way to get your foot in the door.
