Professional Chemist / FormulatorNovember 23, 2018 at 10:30 pm in reply to: low irritant 80 % of total actives are CAPB@Gunther I made the same constatation , but even it seems strange that what experiences gave and the stranger That this study used just SLES as other surfactant with CAPB. So as first impression SLES supposed can not reduce the irritant effect of CAPB However the experiences proved the opposit.

@shaujaat for cost you can decrease the level of IPA or even to replace it with ethanol and about effecacity i already made glass cleaner without vinegar and it works good so you just need to find the adequat levels of each ingredients.
-
As @Perry said presevative are not adequat for skin antibacterial effect cause almost are toxic so even in cosmetic formulation must used at the adequat level.
-
@shaujaat you don’t need to make vinegar to make glass cleaner you can just use water, isopropanol , preservative , perfume and colorant if you want.

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 30, 2018 at 3:47 pm in reply to: My transparent soap is not solidify@Romis A lot of corrections are needed as i see : Actually stearic acid make soap creamy and decrease the transperency of soap so for the transperency you need high soluble oil as coconut oil , you need also to reduce greasy % and to modify % of solvent respecting the following % in pic.
for having solid soap you should use between 40% and 60% saturated oil better 50 % however you have just (18/48 saturated oil ) so i suppose to decrease the % of SLES and increase the % of saturated oil to have harder bar.
About changing TEA to ethanol that prouves that you need to learn more about soap so TEA can be solvent right but it play also as Alkalin ” Neutralizer of oils” so if you change it by ethanol you must add an adequat amount of NaOh.
wish that all is clear unless you are welcome for more explain. -

Professional Chemist / FormulatorOctober 30, 2018 at 12:09 pm in reply to: Formulation of Mild Shampoo supposed not irritant@Chemist77 the % of polyquaternium is not random and i have not access to polyquaternium 87(Luviquat sensation ) and i will not use dimethiconol so as you see for all this reasons polyquaternium 10 in 0,5 % will be the best choice.
For APG i have idea that they are mild surfactants but what about foam and cost compairing to dissoduim cocoamphildiacetate?
In my country suggar is too cheap but may it will not give effect in shampoo.
And for ph if i can not obtain final ph equal to 5 i will delete Salicylic Acid.
