Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 12, 2019 at 8:14 am in reply to: Soy Lecithin in water in oil emulsions@Skinjunkey i guess for w/o lecithin provide adequat hlb i think that the level of use should be higher 8% or more , as it has low hlb it must be in oil phase adequat temperature with adequat mixing will almost give better resultats .(should know that % given is % of emulsifier so i guess that liquid lecithin is not pure so you should know the concentration to know the right % of use)
@coastallabs i think that gum can help for increasing viscosity. -

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 11, 2019 at 10:59 pm in reply to: What make Silicone soluble in such hair cream?@ngarayeva001 actually working on hair cream i find that formulation intersting so before developping work i want to understand formulation in this one just dimethicone i’am not sure how it is stabilised i have idea that Dimethicone is soluble in many ester that’s why my doubts go for myristyl mysristarate . anyway thanks for your reply you are always helpful ☺.

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 10, 2019 at 8:57 pm in reply to: What make Silicone soluble in such hair cream?@Chemist77 do you think that carbomer can alone stabilise 2% of dimethicone ?

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 10, 2019 at 8:39 pm in reply to: What make Silicone soluble in such hair cream?@ngarayeva001 actually yes the emulsifiers in that product are glyceryl stearate and triethanolstearate ( reaction of triethanolamine with stearic acid , carbomer needs just 0,75 % of TEA or less) even the book says that it is o/w emulsion so glyceryl stearate can not alone provide o/w emulsion )
so TEA is used as emulsifier with stearic acid i make the calculation of required hlb and hlb of emulsifiers and i found two near values . -

Professional Chemist / FormulatorMarch 31, 2019 at 1:55 pm in reply to: Zinc Oxide sunscreen@Amitvedakar
for thickness problem may
decreasing level of cetostearyl alcohol and carbomer solve the problem.
For separation and slicky problem i guess it is emulsion’s problem so you should calculate you required hlb then use adequat emulsifiers. -

Professional Chemist / FormulatorMarch 31, 2019 at 1:37 pm in reply to: adjust pH with LABSA@esmail adding adequat amount of NaOh will not affect CDEA this order is proposed to know exactly how much you need NaOh without adding LABSA or citric acid .

Professional Chemist / FormulatorMarch 30, 2019 at 1:25 pm in reply to: adjust pH with LABSA@esmail i suggest to add CDEA before Naoh why? because it will be easier to find adequat amount of Naoh so you just make 20% solution of soude and add littel by littel then check ph to reach wanted one.

@mikethair why do not increasing temperature around 100 degree C for reducing time of saponification ? i already did it in industriel batch with 70 kg of soap and i get good soap ( i think that best part of day is waste of time and money)
