Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 4, 2020 at 9:16 pm in reply to: Dettol and thymol are effective for Covid_19!!!@lmosca very intelligent view about which product of Dettol the site meant?
The most logic and reliable product about question the one you said, however I made reaserachement to discover all products of Dettol that can be effective for Covid_19 so the answer is found in UK Dettol website which said four other products of Dettol differents from Dettol brand hand sanitizer
Also in the site the active ingredient for Dettol’s product is chloroxylenol so as conclusion desired product is not Dettol brand hand sanitizer. -

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 4, 2020 at 7:37 pm in reply to: Dettol and thymol are effective for Covid_19!!!@lmosca interesting comment, however Dettol is found in list of approved hand sanitizers according to the site government of Canada https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-health-products/disinfectants/covid-19/hand-sanitizer.html#tbl1.
So according to you this site is not a reliable reference?Just recently I readed even Singaporean government approved Dettol as effective active ingredient for Covid_19.
About hydrogen peroxide which concentration is recommended (I see very different proposed level) and what is the needed contact time?

Professional Chemist / FormulatorApril 4, 2020 at 5:11 pm in reply to: Dettol and thymol are effective for Covid_19!!!No @Pharma Dettol is found in List of approved hand sanitizers. Thymol with low level is also safe for the skin as I guess.

Professional Chemist / FormulatorMarch 28, 2020 at 11:36 am in reply to: Hydrogen peroxide for Coronavirus?@Cafe33 really interesting link appriciate a lot your share but the table miss one important thing which is needed contact time.
@Pharma for sure scientifics don’t search for product which make a lot of pain. The product must have short needed time of contact ( seconds to few minutes it will be better just 1 minute which is a looked for one ) and also no or low irritant product for skin.
What about 3% hydrogen peroxide product I readed that it is effective for Coronavirus and it needs short needed time contact, any add about that? -

Professional Chemist / FormulatorMarch 26, 2020 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Soap is better for Corona virus?Hi again professionals, so as alcohol not available in many countries is there any other effective product for hands (without washing means not soap solution when we are outside) for Coronavirus?
I Read a lot about diluted hydrogen peroxide, combination between sodium chloride and hypochlorite sodium, combination between sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride, combination between sodium carbonate and hypochlorite sodium last one found in Environmental Protection Agency so it is for sure right however the product may have other ingredients.
Your share is duty which can save life of thousands of peoples.

@Padmavathi with that calculation you just calculate grams of pure IPA For 75 ml. For passing from v/v to w/w make some reasearchement it is not as simple as you calculate.

Professional Chemist / FormulatorMarch 23, 2020 at 12:03 pm in reply to: Efficient sanitizer for Coronavirus?@Cafe33 World Health Organisation WHO proposed spray alcoholic product so for sure it is the effective product, going to gel may it reduce evaporation however it is difficult to have 75% or 80 % alcoholic gel.
As conclusion as professional we must follow the certified formulation which is spray form and leave anything else. -
@Padmavathi 60 % w/w is far and lower then 75 % v/v .

Professional Chemist / FormulatorMarch 22, 2020 at 11:40 am in reply to: Efficient sanitizer for Coronavirus?@Pharma thanks for share what do you think about hydrogen peroxide?
I Ask for that cause it not available for me and I want to make real effective coronavirus sanitizer, so I want to know really if formulation will work or not without it.
I readed in link shared by @Perry that hydrogen peroxide is not active in formulation but it used for eliminate contamination.
So I guess formulation will be effective without it. -
