Got it. Since rose hip oil goes rancid pretty quickly do you think ROE would help?

Ok, I think I understand you guys. I also just plugged it into an already set up calculator. And basically it said use double since it’s only at 50% solution so I use 5g instead of 2.5 g (my total was a 100g formula). My question I guess then does the water portion % of my formula change since 50% of the solution is water of the sodium pca solution? Thank you!

@ozgirl
it’ll run up and down from 0-9 it doesn’t stay on or @ a number. I don’t know if the witch hazel has ethanol, I didn’t make this one. If I place it in a toner it sets on a number or even a very runny cleanser but for some reason when I put it in an acid serum it goes crazy. -
@Perry
what ph meter do you recommend then because this one still reads the calibrating solutions correctly but is jumping all around my acid serums. -
water
mandelic
lactic
Sodium Hyaluronate
niacinamide
sodium pca
soidum lactate
glycerin
witch hazel extract
licorice extract
Xanthan Gum@Perry

good question. it has water in it but then humectants like pca and glycerin
I don’t know exact measurements because I didn’t make it.

I am seeing the light now. My clients are bored. They want “new” fancy stuff so I am torn. I think I read somewhere that nothing really new has rocked the skincare world in decades. -

I appreciate it so much. I understand now how they take a snippet of research and run with it and when you try to add it topically it’s doesn’t do the same thing. Again, I am having to unlearn years of misinformation regarding what works in skincare.
and one more for good measure Lilac Stem Cells? I am guessing don’t control sebum like they are marketed to.

@Perry
to piggyback this question. What is the difference between an “extract” and an “oil” in these types of ingredients. I’ve heard conflicting info. I’ve heard that extract was just another word for oil when they list them like this. But now the OP says that an extract is water soluble so now I don’t know. Thanks! -

It’s a formula that was made for me from a lab. I don’t make it myself but I am hoping to and if it’s not stable as is because of the niacinamide or lack of preservative then I probably should just make it. Do you think sodium benzoate would be an appropriate preservative? Mandelic is pretty stinky. Is there a preservative that masks product smell? @ngarayeva001
I appreciate the feedback! -
@ngarayeva001
Thank you for the help. Based on that ingredient deck do you see a preservative in there? I don’t, but maybe I am missing something. Do I need one in this type of formula? -
