@Belassi you could do an overnight occlusive patch test or 48HR and see if redness developes.I know 5% active SLS alone will give a reaction.

There are a myriad of natural viscosity builders out there and you have to do research which will provide choices based on the system you are using.In many cases you have to use two for thickening, rheology and stability particularly with emulsions.

Final product depends on stability for shelf life-Raw material can be re-analyzed if storage exceeds manufacturers stated shelf life.

@Belassi ketoconazole is soluble in anionic surfactants commonly used in shampoo ie SLS/SLES and acyl sarcosinates (insoluble in water).Can be thickened with Carbopol 1382 which is a little tricky .Had to use colloid mill in scale-up for homogeneity.Once developed a very stable system-in US 1% is an OTC drug—2% script.

Belassi is right ie Half head studies with and w/o in the salon will tell you if value is added:my two cents worth not likely.You would do better to add 0.3-0.5 cationic guar for wet/dry combing and body:in addition it does not build up on hair with repeated use.

We also have to careful of surfactant/emulsifier (and other ingredients) around the eyes, as too aggressive SAA can lead to mild/moderate conjuntival effects which soaping/foaming is an indication of. Polysorbates (such as P-60) mitigate any potential irritation.Even addition of 1-2% more Polysorbate in the oil phase can only help the latter.

Looks like a nice set-up for Simugel INS 100 INCI Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer (and) Isohexadecane (and) Polysorbate 60
Add to either oil or water phase-cold process-you also add at end and adjust viscosity as desired. -
You need a monoethanolamide which will both build viscosity and increase cleaning/foam in the presence of grease/oil.We used to run this test at Lever Bros.based on number of plates washed before foam goes flat.Foam does not always correlate with cleaning but it is a consumer signal/endpoint.

The hydrolysis made it water soluble:we can buy it here as hydrolyzed oat protein.Works well in soap bars also as it provides a consumer perceptible lather boost and skin feel!

You should be able to get one of theSimugels from Seppic and if so you can use to both emulsify and stabilize your emulsion.So much for your main problem.Colloidall oatmeal is a category one skin protectant so why not use it.This is not difficult so don’t make it so.

i agree with Johnb-go back to perfumer and give him a liter of unfragranced base and tell them to increase base note/longevity.how long do you want it to last:did similar with shower to shower but of course that was/is powder and encapsulation in b-cyclodextrin seemed to work best as i recall.

Below 7 Zno forms Zn++ ions which raises issues of stability/efficacy so we always keep our mineral sunscreens above 7: At 7 K sorbate doesn’t work but you can use either BA or Phenoxyethanol at 1%.

yes 9% oil should be enough to dispese 6% Sofitix.Also 5.5 in low enough to form sorbic acid from Ksorbate which should be fine for preservation but will discolor with time however you use it up quickly.Why don’t you raise Ph to 7-7.5 for optimum stability of Zn O and just use either BA or phenoxyethanol at ! % ?

Seriously, does anyone really think that a 1% Phenoxyethanol, Dehydroacetic Acid & Potassium Sorbate combination at pH < 5.5 in an airless container stored in the refrigerator is not going to adequately preserve Doreen’s product which is purely for personal use over a 3 month period?
Doreen, you should be just fine on preservation. ACTUALLY ITS OVERKILL

You can use either 1% phenoxyethanol or % Germaben 11 which I recommend as we have samples of cream that are still good after four year shelf life.

First I ever heard of that must be nonsense and why the 350.used the 100 in baby lotion, which also had adult use, for several decades- monitored complaints from field which never showed anything to that effect.
