Professional Chemist / FormulatorJune 18, 2024 at 8:39 pm in reply to: Help with formulation of serumi would reduce the xanthan gum to .2%-.4%
is the aloe vera the powdered concentrated version? i would use it at.1-.5%
you can remove ethylhexylglycerin and leave pe9010 at 1%
panthenol can be used at.1-.5%
why is lecithin in the formula?
do research on the type of vitamin c you are using to see compatibility, % range, and ph range
you can use micas for the shimmer, sensient has a wide range of shades
HA can be reduced if you want a thinner serum it is at a high %
vitamin e can be reduced , it will not solubilize in this serum so it might seperate
hope this helps

Professional Chemist / FormulatorJune 18, 2024 at 7:23 pm in reply to: Please I need help to check if my phases are properly arranged as a beginnerThe way i arrange my formulas are as follows for an emulsion
Phase 1 -water phase ; water soluble ingredients that are not heat sensitive
phase 1a premix your gums/thickeners with your humectants to create slurry then add to ph1 while mixing to avoid clumps.
Phase 2 oil phase ; your waxes,butters, oil, emollients ;
phase 3 cold phase preservative along with extracts or heat sensitive materials
it takes trial and error when formulating to gain experience so would need to experiment with procedure methods, percentages and materials to figure out what works for your formula

Try removing the polymer since i didnt see it in the IL for the brow gel. Why was it added to the formula?
The final product of that brow looks similar to a clear deodorant which propylene glycol is used and is a main staple for the formulation . Try adding it to your formula.
what % do you have ceteareth-30? maybe start at 10% or higher to get a good starting point.
I would do phase 1 water , sorbitol, propylene glycol, glycerin , propanediol heat to 75-80C
phase 2 ceteareth-30(o/w) heat to 75-80C add to ph1 at 75-80C
phase 3 preservative , check pH? monitor cool down to see when mixture starts to harden to add ph3 around this time .
