Search the forum for “muller” and you’ll find a few threads that mention it.

As far as I’ve read, neutral molecules cross the lipid-heavy stratum corneum more easily than ionized ones. So, in an acidic environment where pH<pKa and glycolic acid mostly keeps its proton, maybe it absorbs better than a solution of mostly glycolate ions. But I don’t know how that would affect irritation.

My name is Tony. I’ve been lurking on the CC forum for a few months while drawing up a one-man foundation makeup business, and am now ready to strike out into formulation. I’ve a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, and a desire for pigmented silicone emulsions, but no experience to speak of.
