@Cherri I agree with chemicalmatt, totally clueless how to change this one to w/o but yeah if you start from scratch and wanna some help on w/Si emulsion then let me know DC have some very good w/Si emulsifiers though I have used NaCl to thicken my formula. As per the crazy request of customer I had to incorporate 3% perfume oil as well into this formula and it came out wonderful.

why, these tubes remind me of Lancome Juicy Tubes.

Perry I feel spreading knowledge doesn’t harm the destiny but then this is my view. Everyone has a different perspective on this.

All the best for the future endeavor, am sure you would end up with a better job now. Change is inevitable and generally it’s for better

Maybe other mentors here can explain it better.

Well I am based in Middle East and I have not seen such kind of document where they give the breakdown in percentage but when I was in France for a short period I saw suppliers’ documents mentioning the breakdown of the mixtures (where applicable) and mentioning the percentage as well. Otherwise without such breakdown you cannot draw a correct ingredient list or else you have to put that ingredient mixture in the list as per it’s percentage in the formula though I am sure it wouldn’t be absolutely right.
-
I am sure the supplier can give you a breakdown alongwith the percentage of each ingredient in their technical data sheet. They wouldn’t mention it one to one but they can definitely provide a rough figure for the same. Accordingly and as per the final calculation of each ingredient’s percentage you can draw down your ingredient list.

MemberMarch 25, 2014 at 7:27 am in reply to: Acidic Scar healing lotion curdled under cooldown. Help me fix my recipeSA has a very good solubility in MPG and as pointed out by Zink it has some solubility in Castor oil and Olive oil too. But the focus should be to keep it solubilized when these solutions (in different vehicles) are added to the emulsion which has good quantity of water as well.
-
Add a little Disodium Lauroamphoacetate and a little DPG, should keei it clear if you have recrystallization issue.
-
@Gustavo As you pointed out that probably the alcohol is added to help in keeping the conditioner solubilized. So don’t you think that the presence of alcohol would be uniform throughout the tube otherwise if it is concentrated at the bottom then the solubility of the conditioner at the top wouldn’t be uniform, also since it’s a tube I don’t expect a ‘shake well before use’ direction.
-
Then I suppose they forgot to put the name of carbon chain before alcohol as in cetyl, behenyl, myristyl and so on and so forth
-
Seems like they forgot to add the name of the carbon chain before Alcohol
On a serious note if it has ethanol then it must smell sharp the moment you open the cap and smell it. Ethanol at such a high position reduces the intensity of the fragrance also. -
David is right, without knowing the product it is difficult to opine.
Though for a feet callus remover I used MPG, 2% Salicylic Acid, DPG and a surfactant to aid in solubility. I have a stable formula with no recrystallization even after months. -

MemberMarch 8, 2014 at 9:28 pm in reply to: Cationic emulsion system questions for lotionFirst of all EDTA’s primary function is to act as a chelate and whatever charge it is carrying would be used up to form those metal complexes. Supposedly, still if there is some charge left it would be much smaller than that of cationic BTMS and won’t affect the conditioning efficacy of BTMS.
I might be wrong in my assumption so discretion advised. -

MemberMarch 5, 2014 at 11:46 am in reply to: Anyone specialize in formulating DHA products? If I recollect then I remember my DHA lotion was based on Steareth-2 and 21 and it turned out to be quite OK as I could maintain the required pH as well. Make sure the pH doesnt cross 3.5-4 (better to be lower side), also there was another ingredient that I used to enhance the efficacy of DHA. Guess it was erythrulose, used xanthan from CP Kelco at that time. This is just a skeletal idea, if anyone adopts and optimizes then I am sure something might come out of this. The tan lasted for a week, tried on myself to make sure.

@Robert where can I find a concise summary or a reference where this inactivation of preservatives in presence of surfactants is mentioned??? I would very much like to stay abreast on this one as we all use surfactants and preservatives very often.
-
Please write the correct name for alcohol, whether its alcohol denat or isopropyl alcohol, sometimes conditioners have alcohols as the vehicle instead of water and maybe because of that it has been included in the ing list. I use one ftom Lonza which is 50% dispersion in IPA, mine is a pretty much stable product though the salt is cetrimonium chloride.
Or it might be a carrier of one of the extracts put up wrongly in the ing list (very remote chance though).
Or I might be wrong in my evaluation, so discretion advised. -
