Start with 1% Cetyl Alcohol and see if there is any difference in stability, feel and other perceptible parameters. As @Bobzchemist says you won’t know until you do it, so do the trials and see. And don’t make too many changes at the same time, knock out is what counts here.

Thats a lot of oil for a cleansing system, still if you want to stick to it either replace some part of it with cetyl alcohol or use HEC. You could use Methocel 40-202 also as it is a good foam booster also and see how far you reach with the stability.

  • @Perry I suppose the best way would be to block the person (username more specifically) here and we can then know who is missing, this way you won’t feel guilty of shaming anyone and people would be smart enough to notice that user name missing for long time in discussions. At least this can serve as redressal for those who have suffered and a caution for those who might be future victims.

@Belassi I like your logic the best  :-)

Actually @Zink is right in asking why stearic acid and why not cetyl alcohol. But it’s really matter of choice and the kind of formula you are looking to develop, it’s a wholesome thing you consider. Sometimes it fits the scheme and at times you can replace it, just a loud thought.

Guess they are pretty extensive in pharma industry, my nephew is asthmatic and if I remember the puff he inhales has Fluticasone Furoate.

If at all you decide to let go of ‘natural’, try Acudyne series and the one which suits u best.

  • @Bobzchemist Simply great!!!!!

  • @Perry Is that the reason we see Perry, 44 always?????  :)

@danielyau while considering the substitues for the mineral oil, have you got the margin for the cost adjustment in the formula. The suggestions made here are at least twice as costly nd it may run to 5 or 6 times of the cost of the paraffin liquid.
    Just a thought!!!!!!

@Bill_Toge yeah thats a given, interference of surfactants with gel network.

@Bill_Toge I have used cellosize and methocels with ethoxylated ones and have found them OK. Do you mean the nonethoxylated ones would completely thin down these cellulosics????

Hydroxypropylmethyl Cellulose, try PEG-150 distearate but since its a solid it has to be hot process

Did u study the literature of carbomer to see if it is compatible with strong surfactants nd electrolytes??? And which grade of carbomer have u used??? And what product are you trying to formulate?? Is there a sodium chloride free claim??? Try using HECs or HPMCs, they behave well with surfactants. You can use highly ethoxylated distearate salt or there is a huge range of thickeners from Evonik/Croda/Lubrizol.

If I remember our old lipstick formulas we used to incorporate carnuaba to give a little matte effect to the so shiny look of the stick and it worked. You can try that by using an optimized mixture of these waxes.

Agree with @Perry, Cocamide DEA just modifies the salt curve rather than being a thickener itself. You can avoid it altogether and either go Perry’s way or @Venera‘s, though I would be interested to know the final performance with Sepigel 305.

With the speed the preservatives are being dumped everyday I foresee a very strong chance of ‘use & throw’ products extensively.  :))

In addition to COD we have the luxury of returning within a week or so and either cash back or choose something else. I mean total control to the customer (so it seems).

What about product registration from local concerned authority???? Who is gonna do that, the producer or seller????

  • A rocket for a mosquito  :))

I guess the answer lies in checking the structure and feel of the recipe you made and the one available from the ‘rocket’ company. That would give you a pretty fair idea about the significance of the mixing duration.

@CosChemFan I am still in evaluation stage and there are comments what you just mentioned but mine is hot process and I am still doing the knock outs. Although I have used some Polyox WSRs and they provide great gliding effect thereby neutralizing the drag. As for foam since I have high active matter the suppression goes unnoticed. I have in fact seen improvement with GC7, though I would still look into @Belassi comments.

@Belassi I have used 3% GC 7 in my shampoo which has sulfates/amphoacetate and ecosmooth 100 for conditioning. Do you think the cocoate would really suppress the foam, I didn’t notice it but now since you mentioned I have to note it.
