It’s a serum for puffy under eyes,  my concern is that at ph 5 it will sting the eye if some material will get to the eye

Yes Salicylic acid . Since this is an emulsion (and not a serum , sorry my mistake) we do have water phase at PH 5.5

  • There is an ingredient called Escin or Aescin . check the research on it.

Did you measure the PH ?

Sorry I have missed the reply.
I have not checked the Aw but its rather low since in addition to the Xylotol I am also using about 5% of Propa 1.3
I did look at competitors but no one is really making a PH8 rinse . (except one and he uses benzoic acid)
So I guess my question is , does anyone know if Euxyl pe9010 can be used in oral care ?

    Some more info.
I am using xylitol at 10% to reduce water activity and SAP at 3%. I dont have a chelator .

Thx you Justaerin and Syl .
I am removing the carrier oil .
BTW…21% SLMI and 0.5% carrier oil was not producing good foam.
Also , just to be extra safe , I chose EOs that are not known to cause irritation .

I think that’s a bad analogy . If you add neat EO to a bath you will get a serious skin reaction (it happened to me).
EO is not diluted by water. I am not sure if surfectant will dilute EO in the sense that Tisserand explained . (carrier oil dilutes chemicals in EO so no allergic/irritation happens on the skin)

Right now I am trying 21%.
I am a but leery to use neat EO on rinse of products . I am unable to find any data that supports it..

One more question . I am trying to add essential oils for fragrance to the shampoo . Of course I am diluting EOs in carrier oil to the level advised in Tisserand book .
As per advice from this forum I used at 0.1% but the smell is very faint . I have to bump to 0.8% (at least) to have enough scent .
Any elegant way to incorporate 1% oils in my shampoo ? Should I use an emulsifier ? ( I am only using SLMI as surfectant)

Moisurizing , anti inflamatory . We are only using glycol, preservation and chelator .

I am not taking about gelling . The water activity is reduced by humectants and yes HA has good water binding property (along with NA PCA that is known to reduce water activity)

Mark a second question , if you dont mind . I seen in your posts that you like gld as a chelator , do we need sodium phytate at this ph ?

    Hi Mark
we used Sodium Benzoate and Potasium Sorbate in the first formulation . I am wondering if adding just Sodium Benzoate will work (since we have gld already)

Yes I am aware. Still the ph is low and we have chelator.
