I think to call yourself a chemist you should definitely have formal qualifications..if not, call yourself a formulator. People who work in pharmacies don’t all call themselves pharmacists even though they might know how to hand out pills ????♀️

@Belassi @ngarayeva001 are either of you able to share the full text of the 2 Niacinamide studies @ngarayeva001 cited? ??

I do use EOs for their fragrance and will continue to wait for credible evidence thay they do more than scent the product. @DAS bees wow!! That’s a good test for a perfumer.. do the bees think it’s real?!

What about some of the above potentially negative effects and whether this could be significant when used topically- your thoughts? (MW, constituent dependent, concentration… too many variables?)

Essential Oils in skincare@Microformulation I was hoping you could weigh in on this conversation after just reading some of your recent comments on other threads and you seem to formulate a large majority of products to a natural standard. I’m caught between cosmetics don’t penetrate the skin and have physiological effects (or claim to anyway) and are (some) essential oils penetrating and therefore not good to use in skincare?

Sodium cocoyl glutamate powder .. double check but I think is also biodegradable so better for the environment if you’re in the bush.
-
Thanks @Perry sounds interesting, will add that to my reading list. I hope the view is also balanced as the R&D, clinical trials programs and commercialisation of drugs by pharma companies have and continue to give many patients access to life changing and saving medications.
-
@das I agree, huge numbers of patients needed, variables to consider and relevant end points to measure!?
@Perry don’t loose faith in pharma, the research is significant and doctors are trained to interpret it and look for statistical significance .. unlike many consumers reading cosmetics claims and blogs. -
Just the results from the start of a study to the end of a washout period (diet prescribed by a dietician containing ‘normal’ vitamin C requirements and no topical Vitamin C) would be interesting Perry.
Then followed by addition of supplements or topical Vitamin C to see whether there is further improvement. -

MemberJuly 24, 2018 at 6:44 am in reply to: Niacinamide and Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate combination@Doreen I was going to tag you in this post because I know you’re also using the VC IP at the moment! ?. Thanks so much for the comment, good news you’ve come across no issues. The rep said there was no data on the combination that he knew of. Have you found the VC-IP stable in the water based formulation?
-
Thanks @mikethair wow there are some big blenders out there! Do you have any tips for slow stirring of emulsions during cool down in one of those tanks?
-
Thanks, I’m doing the same and have also used a drill and paint stirrers. Still trying to get it right.

MemberJuly 19, 2018 at 4:55 pm in reply to: “Natural Fragrance” As Part of the Ingredient List@rebeccaso I’m not up to date with FDA requirements, but @DAS has provided a link and @Sibech also seems knowledgeable in this area. My common sense would say that having a complete and compliant INCI ingredient list, supplemented by additional info should be acceptable.
-
@Dirtnap1 thanks for the link- do you also use the attachment for creaming honey for emulsification or stirring? @Max any brand of home brew heater you use in particular?

-
@Doreen ?? he’s moved on from liquid German and is now concerned about malaria (☝?Post). Apologies all for sidetracking this interesting thread
-
