It’s fascinating to see your ingenuity, Luis. I’m out of production for a while, right now I need to waterproof the roof before it rains!

This is just my opinion: Studies in humans have shown that our skin rapidly restores its normal pH level after being washed with either more acidic or even alkaline products (soap has a pH of around 9.5 - 10) so I see no reason why dogs shouldn’t. I use a human shampoo, pH 5.5, on my dogs and the results are definitely better than dog shampoos, many of which - see the consumer campaign against Harz - are highly injurious.

@ZleyHoldings Very nice of you to offer. Just one note: If sending anything to Mexico it should be via post, not via courier such as DHL or FEDEX. This is because of the onerous customs clearance problem. I’ve successfully ordered materials (eg. glycrrhizic acid) from China in small quantities (up to 5Kg) by post.

Damn, I had forgotten about that. What a nuisance.

Instead of using decyl glucoside, why not try using ALS, which will thicken with the CAPB, to avoid using SF1 as an (expensive) thickener? Also eliminating the need for the DEA. You’d need to leave the final pH <=6 of course. I don’t like decyl glucoside anyway, it’s short flow like SLES, draggy.

The best used to be Conjunto Lar but it is all messed up these days.

1. It is not acceptable to measure in ‘drops’.
2. TEA is a liquid, it sounds as if you are referring to Carbopol.
3. You don’t say what type of Carbopol. If it’s 980, forget that. Not possible. 940 will just about work and give a hazy result. Need Ultrez for a clear gel.
4. Add HCL???? Hydrochloric acid??? -
No, I haven’t ordered any myself!

It’s that we use either a fragrance, OR essential oil(s). Peppermint in a suitable amount gives a refreshing, cooling effect but I don’t like it in a hair product because if it gets in your eyes it is unpleasant.
-
Peppermint is a very strong EO and its aroma will drown any other EO. A level of 0.2% will definitely be felt by your mucous membranes. I recommend you start with a very low level, perhaps 0.05%. When using EOs, fragrance oils in addition are not in general a good idea.

Yesterday in my new house I had a fumigation company come. The guy says, “British, eh? Not many of you here. Say … you wouldn’t be the British guy who makes the great coffee shampoo?”
It turned out, he is one of our customers. I gave him a free bottle and he discounted my bill! -
2% peppermint oil? If you get that in your eyes you will think it’s pepper spray.
-
You might try potassium glycrrhizate instead of stevia, about the same percentage. It has the property of forming certain types of emulsion.

I agree (Cafe33). For me, SLES has a really horrible ‘short flow’ (draggy, dry) feeling to it. Really crummy surfactant, so common for one reason only: It’s the cheapest.
-
*And also what ingredient in the below ingredients list makes the product thick?
- NONE of them. Looks like a fake label. -
What is that - Glucamate LT? I recommend Glucamate VLT (trioleate version) it’s fabulous. Great sensorials. Acts as preservative. But, expensive.
