  • Why does perfume’s scent last so long?

    dear friends!
    i wonder that the lavender scent of perfume lasts so long. But lavender scent in lotion lasts very short time.
    can anyone explain? 
    I appreciate all inputs.

    Concentration inputs to a lotion is only a few percent which oxidises over time, but 100% Lavender does not mix with any other compounds that increase oxidation. Also perfumes are constructed with bottom notes that fix the perfume for long periods of time & keep the volatile notes from evaporating into the air…

    Thanks Dr. Pratt. So the lavender scent from perfume and lotion are different chemical entities? Lavender scent from lotion is top note that is easy to evaporate . Other is bottom note that is not easy evaporate?
    lavender scent from perfume is called fragrance?
