  • What type of pH electrode do you use?

    Hi and thanks for reading!
First post for me and it’s to ask for advice :)
Our lab used to have a Ag/AgCl general purpose single junction plastic body electrode for batch testing. We manufacture skin care, hair care, body care products.
The electrode got broken so I replaced it with the same electrode thinking “why change something that has worked” even though those electrodes are more suited to liquids. But unfortunately the new electrode drifts and the internal reference electrode slowly gets coated with white looking something and over the last
couple of weeks it is affecting the electrode readings and calibration which means more regular than should be necessary calibration.
I have looked at lots of brochures to choose a new electrode type more suited to emulsions etc but without having tried them I would like some advice on what is working for you!

    My questions:
    1) Have you encountered a similar problem?
    2) What electrode type do you use?
    3) Any recommendations?

A difficulty is that at the moment several people use it and some people are a bit rougher than others (hence the original one got broken) so something robust is required.

I read with interest the post on ISFET non-glass electrode a few days ago which sounds great but the price is quite high.

    I appreciate the help!
