  • What are your favorite cationic conditioning ingredients for wash off body products?

I’m working on a syndet body cleansing bar and skin feels a little too dry after using. It’s sci and plantapon sf based. I’d like to add a Cationic conditioning ingredient and there’s a ton of info for Cationic conditioners for hair but I haven’t found a lot about Cationic conditioners for skin. What are your favorites to work with for this application?

I know there’s a lot of mixed info regarding mixing anionic surfactants with Cationic ingredients in bar form…but since it’s a solid product I’d like to go ahead and try and see how it turns out.

With a strong anionic system such as that, you are best off with Polyquaternium-7. Doesn’t take much either even though it’s supplied at 10% active.

The internet is simply frightening.  I read Matt’s comment, and immediately my Facebook feed was trying to sell me this:

Thank you! I have some on hand so I’ll try it out.
